I made this site for my family. Some family members had done extensive geneological research, gathering records dating back hundreds of years. I was fascinated by the history, but also overwhelmed by it. How can you digest the lives of generations across counties and continents?

I wanted to visualize their journey across time. I wanted to experience heritage as a story, not as a list of names. This site was my experiment in trying to make that history comprehensible and close. It's an attempt to make forgotten ancestors feel like kin, and to get a sense of the intricate tapestry of people and places that made it possible for you to exist at all. To get a sense of where you come from.

Right now, the site is just for my family, but I've had fun building some of the visualizations so I wanted to share them, even if you're not my 4th cousin twice removed.
